COLOGNE | PERFUME
When searching for cologne and perfume that are free from hormone disruptors, there are certain things you should aim to avoid. Here are some guidelines:
Synthetic Fragrances: Many conventional colognes and perfumes contain synthetic fragrances that can consist of a mixture of potentially harmful chemicals. These chemicals may include phthalates, which are known hormone disruptors. Opt for products that use natural or essential oil-based fragrances instead. Avoid lavedar oil.
Phthalates: Phthalates are commonly used as fragrance carriers in colognes and perfumes. These chemicals have been linked to hormone disruption. Look for products that are explicitly labeled as phthalate-free.
Parabens: Parabens are preservatives that are commonly used in cosmetic products, including colognes and perfumes. Some parabens have been associated with hormone disruption. Consider products that are labeled as paraben-free.
Synthetic Musks: Synthetic musks, such as nitromusks or polycyclic musks, are fragrance ingredients that can accumulate in the body and have been linked to hormone disruption. Look for products that avoid the use of synthetic musks.
Aldehydes: Certain aldehydes, such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde, can be found in some colognes and perfumes. These substances can act as hormone disruptors. Choose products that are free from aldehydes or low in their presence.
